The tube sheets at both ends of the floating head heat exchanger have a section that is not connected to the shell and can float freely in the direction of the tube length. This allows for the elimination of thermal stress when the shell and tube bundle undergo different thermal expansions due to temperature differences.

 

       Advantages of floating head heat exchanger:

       (1) The tube bundle can be withdrawn for easy cleaning of the tubes and shell side;

       (2) The temperature difference between media is not limited;

       (3) It can operate under high temperature and high pressure, with a general temperature of less than or equal to 450 degrees and a pressure of less than or equal to 6.4 MPa;

       (4) It can be used in situations where scaling is relatively severe;

       (5) It can be used in situations where the tube side is prone to corrosion.

 

       Disadvantages of floating head heat exchanger:

       (1) Small floating heads are prone to internal leakage;

       (2) The consumption of metal materials is large, resulting in a 20% increase in cost;

       (3) Complex structure
